long exposures and velvia 50
May 10th, 2007
No, not long exposures ON velvia 50
just a bit of each…
So, here it go!
If anyone’s bothered, check the exif for details, but i think it was f/22 – f/29 between 5 to 30 seconds at iso 100, AWB…
That’s the ledge at the terrace i shot from, makes for a fun framing device…
Velvia 50 time
Shot with a Holga 120CFN, expired velvia 50 film
The Holga manual says the shutter speed is approximately 1/100 , and the aperture between f/8 and f/11
So, using the sunny 16 rule -> in BRIGHT sunlight, use a shutterspeed of 1/ISO @ f/16; its obvious that ISO 100 would be the best choice at f/16,
BUT
since im shooting f/11 and f/11 is exactly one f/stop wider than f/16, Velvia 50 would give me a PERFECT exposure in bright sunlight (since 50 is one iso-stop lower than 100) =)
im proud of myself
i still shot in the dark and the shade, and i shouldnt have… its almost completely dark…
anyway, i got them processed @ prolab (near mall of the emirates) in dubai, for 25 Dhs, (the expired velvia cost me 10)
scanning wouldve cost me another 35, but i didnt get em scanner
since i overlooked the fact that my scanner is horrendous… Anyway, i pasted the negatives on my window, and used my canon to shoot the negs itself, so, bear with the brightness. color, quality etc…. thats the best i can do
(The film itself is PERFECTLY exposed, CRYSTAL clear and sharp as a needle with the famed velvia saturation)
here they are,
(double exposure)
(triple exposure)
And, a BIG thankyou to sawsan for lending me her Holga!!! i got the most KVLTest pics ever =)
